According to Chinese Medicine, the universal forces are known as the Five Elements or Five Phases.

These elements represent the fundamental energies that exist in nature and within the human body. The Five Elements are:

  1. Wood (Mu): Represents growth, birth, and the energy of spring. It is associated with the liver and gallbladder.
  2. Fire (Huo): Represents energy, action, and warmth. It is associated with the heart, small intestine, pericardium, and triple burner (an organ system in Chinese Medicine).
  3. Earth (Tu): Represents nourishment, stability, and balance. It is associated with the spleen and stomach.
  4. Metal (Jin): Represents precision, strength, and clarity. It is associated with the lungs and large intestine.
  5. Water (Shui): Represents fluidity, adaptability, and winter energy. It is associated with the kidneys and bladder.

These elements are not merely seen as physical substances but rather as symbolic representations of energetic qualities. They are believed to interact with and influence each other, maintaining a dynamic balance within the body.
